For over 100 years, Anchor Bank has been an integral part of our local communities. Below are some of the community events and organizations that we donate our time and resources to.
Anchor Bank sponsored Kid's Day at the Grays Harbor County Fair on August 11. Staff from Anchor Bank helped drive the Kiddie Train and handed out balloons to kids.
The annual Big Little School Supply Drive was held August 1 - September 2 at all Anchor Bank locations with large boxes and advertisements for customers to see.
On July 22, all the Anchor Bank locations celebrated Customer Appreciation Day with their customers. Each branch served food and held a drawing to win a Summer Gift Basket.
Anchor Bank sponsored the Montesano Chamber of Commerce 4th Annual Kids Festival and the Montesano Branch staff worked during the event.
On July 9, South Sound Chamber BBQ Festival, Lacey Branch Manager, Melissa Stone and her staff worked at the Anchor Bank tent during this annual event.
Aberdeen Branch Manager, Laura Pezzola, attended the Grays Harbor Leadership program and graduated on June 30, 2016.
The Puyallup Branch staff worked at the Anchor Bank sponsored hole and Business Bankers, Joe Betzendorfer, Gary Koch and Brandon Barnes played as a team during the Master Builders Golf Tournament.
On May 20th, East Grays Harbor Relay for Life held their annual relay at the Grays Harbor Fairgrounds for 24 hours. Anchor Bank was present with an Elma branch team walking and raised a total of $3,398.62.
Seabrook and Oyhutbay hosted an investment and development seminar at the Ocean Shores Convention Center. Ocean Shores Branch Manager, Lorna White, attended to represent Anchor Bank as a Local Lending Sponsor.
On April 29, the Thurston County Chamber held their annual A Night on the Town at the Red Lion Hotel. Gary Koch, Brandon Barnes and Melissa Stone all attended and Anchor Bank was the Presenting Sponsor.
Anchor Bank's Thurston County locations participated in the annual Thurston County Math for Life, April 4th through April 15th, and provided local school kids with math questions and giveaways.
Anchor Bank sponsored a table and also attended the Thurston-Mason County Medical Society "Blooming with Health" Spring Gala.
Westport Branch Manager, Shirley Urquhart, is a board member of WEfish and attended the WEfish Fishing Forward Open House on March 19th.
On February 29th, the Westport branch staff served dinner to all the attendees at the annual Ocosta Family Fun Night.
The Westport branch staff attended and worked at the Westport/Grayland Chamber Auction & Dinner, serving dinner and running the register. Anchor Bank also donated an auction item.
On February 24th, Lacey Branch Manager, Melissa Stone and VP, Regional Manager, Brandon Barnes attended the Thurston County 2016 Distinguished Leader Awards to support the community and our customers.
United Way of Grays Harbor - 17th Annual Black and White gala event held on January 30th, presented an evening of food, fun and raising money. Branch Managers, Lorna White, Laura Pezzola, Shirley Urquhart, Patti Ambrose, with Business Banker, Brandon Barnes and Loan Officer, Julie West all attended with a guest.
United Way of Thurston County's 7th Annual Straight from the Heart gala event held on January 30th, presented an evening of delicious food, elegant wines, and great company. Branch Managers Dan Cooling, Amber Mark and Melissa Stone all attended with a guest.
The holiday photo featured local staff children, grandchildren, nieces and/or nephews. A “Merry Christmas” ad was featured in the Christmas Day edition of The Daily World.
On December 3, Mortgage Loan Rep, Julie West, Branch Manager, Laura Pezzola and Marketing Director, Sam Newberry attended The Salvation Army 12th Annual Kettle Klash Luncheon that raised over $23,000 this year.
Anchor Bank sponsored the Providence St. Peter Christmas Forest Gift Shop located on the main floor of the Red Lion Hotel. This is an annual event that Anchor Bank has sponsored.
Saint Martin's University held their 10th Annual Gala on Novemeber 7th, featuring celebrity chef stars from "The Chew." Anchor Bank senior staff attended the event, which raises money for higher education.
During the month of October all the Grays Harbor Anchor Bank branches helped collect coats and blankets for the annual United Way Winter Drive.
On October 16th, the Greater Grays Harbor Inc. held their 124th Leaders Banquet Business Recognition Awards at the Quinault Beach Resort. Aberdeen Branch Manager, Laura Pezzola decorated Anchor's table and the dinner was well attended by Anchor Bank staff and spouses.
On September 25th, The United Way of Thurston County held their Day of Caring in the downtown area of Olympia. Anchor Bankers volunteered their time by sweeping sidewalks and painting buildings throughout the day.
Operation Shore Patrol came to Grayland on September 19th to clean up the beach. This event takes place every year. The Westport Grayland Chamber of Commerce, WeFish and Anchor Bank's Westport Branch Manager, Shirley Urquhart, teamed together to serve a lunch for the all volunteers when they finished.
Anchor Bank sponsored the photos taken at the 10th Annual Tee it up For Tots Golf Tournament at the Ocean Shores Golf Course. This tournament benefits United Way of Grays Harbor & Pacific Counties and Grays Harbor Community Hospital Foundation Pediatrics Fund. Branch Manager, Lorna White and Marketing & Sales Director, Sam Newberry attended the event.
On August 8th, the Puyallup Assistant Branch Manager, Zaira Ross, Megan Marks and Business Banker, Joe Betzendorfer participated in the Chili Challenge. Their chili won 2nd place by the judges and 3rd place by the People’s Choice.
Elma hosted it's annual Heat on the Street on August 1st. Elma's Branch Manager, Patti Ambrose helped at the registration booth checking in all the cars and motorcycles. The Heat on the Street brings in hundreds of vintage hot rods, trucks, bikes and more each year.
On Friday, July 31st Anchor Bank held their annual Customer Appreciation Day at all their branches between 11am and 2pm. Customers came by for food, fun and entered to win a $500 Gift Certificate to the Great Wolf Lodge. The Montesano branch had the lucky winner of the Gift Certificate to the Great Wolf Lodge.

On June 26, 2015, Anchor Bank participated at the Mason County Relay for Life for the first year. The Shelton Anchor Bank team volunteered their time as well as many others. It was a huge success, raising $1,288 with their first year in attendence at the Shelton Relay.
On June 23, 2015, Anchor Bank participated at the United Way of Mason County Day of Caring. Shelton Branch Manager, Dan Cooling, led the way for Sam Newberry, Justina MacMillan and Pat Skinner, who all helped strip the bleachers at Shelton High School before they were primed and painted. They also had time for some storage moving for the United Way crew.
On June 12, 2015, Anchor Bank sponsored a hole at the Classic. The Puyallup Branch Manager, Sandra Cardona and Assistant Manager, Zaira Ross, volunteered their time at the booth giiving away golf towels and playing games with golfers as they came by. Anchor Bank also donated a basket for the auction.

The Puyallup Branch of Anchor Bank has relocated to a new brick-and-mortar in Sunrise Village. The new location gives staff and customers more room and visibility with other businesses in the community. Once a month, two students at Pleasant Glade Elementary School who have demonstrated Leaders of Learning characteristics, are chosen by their teacher. The students are recognized at an assembly with a certificate and Pizza with the Principal. For the month of February, Anchor Bank sponsored the Pizza with the Principal and Pleasant Glade Elementary said "Thank You" on their reader board and to the Lacey Branch Manager, Melissa Stone.

Anchor Bank, with the tremendous amount of effort from Lacey Branch Manager, Melissa Stone, was nominated for the Workplace Excellence Award by the Lacey Chamber of Commerce. With all of Melissa's strong service in the community during 2014, she helped Anchor Bank receive this nomination. Although, Anchor did not win the award; it was a huge honor to be nominated! The award went to Hometown Property Management.

On January 20th, Anchor Bank attended the Lewis County Business Showcase with Centralia Branch Manager, Amber Mark, Loan Officer, TJ Bracken, Business Banker, John Devine and Marketing/Sales Director Sam Newberry.
On December 17th, elementary school children from Robert Gray sang Christmas songs and helped decorate the “Mitten Tree” in the Aberdeen branch lobby. The featured photo shows the kids putting the hats they knitted themselves onto the tree.

Thurston County Chamber hosted the Business Showcase Expo at Saint Martin’s Pavilion on October 7th. Anchor Bank had a booth with Branch Managers and Business Bankers attending to network with other businesses in the community.
Anchor Bank sponsored the Habitat for Humanity of Grays Harbor 9th Annual Dinner & Auction Fundraiser as well as contributed an auction item. Human Resources Generalist, Kay Sund and Marketing & Sales Director, Sam Newberry helped set up and make this event a success. Aberdeen Branch Manager Jill Berney, Greg Shultz and Laurie Biddle also attended the event, as well as CFO, Terri Degner (pictured).
On September 26th, Anchor Bank Branch Managers, Kim Parks, Melissa Stone, Business Banker, Gary Koch and Commercial Lending Assistant, Tyler Adams all prepared food bags for kids at the Thurston County Food Bank as part of the 22nd Annual United Way of Thurston County Day of Caring.
Centralia Branch Manager, Amber Mark, and Business Banker, John Devine, worked together at the 24th Annual United Way of Lewis County Golf Tournament, where Anchor Bank sponsored a hole.
The Montesano Chamber of Commerce honored Anchor Bank as the Business of the Quarter in September. Branch Manager, Tim Beauchamp, received the certificate in honor of Anchor Bank.
Anchor Bank’s Big Little School Supply Drive campaign ended. We collected a total of 5079 items an increase of 18 more than last year. Our hard efforts paid off by bringing fifteen different schools new supplies to kids in our communities. We had 100% participation by all departments and branches. South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity partnered with Anchor Bank to hold an Anchor Bank Build Day on August 19. Employees from Anchor Bank donated their time to come out and help at the Woods Glen location in Lacey. President, CEO, Jerry Shaw helped dig fence post holes alongside Business Bankers, John Devine and Gary Koch; EVP, Chief Financial Officer, Terri Degner took turns staining fence boards with VP, Sales & Marketing Director, Sam Newberry, Lacey Branch Manager, Melissa Stone and other Anchor Bank helpers throughout the day. The Grays Harbor County Fair ran from August 6th thru the 10th. On August 7th, Anchor Bank sponsored Kid's Day and drove the Kiddie Train for the kids. Anchor Branch Managers and Business Bankers came to volunteer their time to drive the train and hand out balloons. You can see photos here.

Anchor Bank participated at the Business Expo & Bite of Shelton at the Shelton High School on July 17th. The Shelton Branch staff networked and helped customers enter to win a summer-themed basket donated by Anchor Bank.
On June 13th, The Olympia Master Builders hosted a "Rock-N-Roll" themed golf tournament at the Golf Club in Hawks Prairie. Anchor Bank sponsored a hole where each team could stop and get their photo taken in a Beatles cutout. Business Bankers, Joe Betzendorfer and Gary Koch participated in the tournament together.
Anchor Bank was a graduation sponsor for the Leadership Thurston County Class of 2014 on June 11, 2014 and President/CEO, Jerry Shaw introduced the event.
Anchor Bank participated as a Silver Level Sponsor during the 2014 Relay for Life in Grays Harbor. The event started Friday, May 30th at 6pm and ended Saturday, May 31st at 6pm at the Hoquiam High School track. The Anchor Bank Forever Strong team raised enough money to surpass the original goal of the Bronze Fundraising Level and hit the Silver Team Fundraising Club Level of $3,500 or more. Montesano Branch Manager, Tim Beauchamp, attended the Montesano Senior Center Spring Fling Dinner and Auction on May 17th, 2014. Previous years have shown to be very successful and raised a lot of money for the seniors.
Westport Branch Manager, Adrienne Jones and her branch helped clean the Fisherman's Memorial on May 17th in preparation of Blessing of the Fleet on May 25th in Westport.
Lacey Business Bankers, Dick Barnes and Joe Betzendorfer, played in the Thurston-Mason Counties Dental Society Golf Tournament at Indian Summer Golf Course on May 16th with two dentists. Branch Managers, Melissa Stone, Amber Mark, Kim Parks, and Business Banker, Kasandra Jaquez, volunteered their time the Anchor Bank sponsored hole during this annual tournament.
Business Banker, Brandon Barnes, had a team with Business Banker, Joe Betzendorfer to compete in the Summit Pacific Medical Center Celebrity Golf Tournament on May 9th at the Salish Cliffs Golf Club. Anchor Bank was a returning participant at this event and there was a nice turn out despite the weather. Also, Elma Branch Manager, Patti Ambrose, and Assistant Manager, Virginia Grandorff, volunteered during the dinner and silent auction that followed the tournament.
Lacey Branch Manager, Melissa Stone, spent a few hours at the Lacey Fred Meyer on April 18th, 2014 in an effort to raise cash donations and accept house hold item donations for the Family Support Center of South Sound. The Family Support Center of South Sound is currently building a new shelter for low income homeless families and are in need of some basic items.
Friday, April 18th, 2014 the Thurston County Chamber held "A Night on the Town" and Anchor Bank was a presenting sponsor. "A Night on the Town" is a fundraising event to benefit the programs of the Thurston County Chamber Foundation.
The Olympia and Lacey Anchor Bank branches participated in the Math for Life of Thurston County April 5th - 20th. Kids Kindergarten through 12th grade toured each branch and were quizzed about math from our staff. Anchor has been participating in Math for Life for several years now and the staff looks forward to the kids visiting as well as the kids enjoy the math questions.
Aberdeen Assistant Branch Manager, BreAnn Turner, attended the Robert Gray Elementary Career Day event to represent Anchor Bank. BreAnn answered questions about Anchor Bank and gave the kids gifts they could take home with them.
Business Banker, Brandon Barnes, attended the 42nd Annual Aberdeen Rotary Auction at the Grays Harbor Chamber HUB where Anchor Bank donated a weekend getaway at the Alderbrook Resort.
The Ocean Shores branch volunteered at the Ocean Shores/North Beach Chamber ticket booth during the 8th Annual Razor Clam Festival & Seafood Extravaganza. The event was March 21st thru March 23rd in Ocean Shores.
Aberdeen Branch Manager, Jill Berney, attended the Central Park Elementary Career Day to show kids what employment options Anchor Bank has to offer. Jill taught the kids about Anchor Bank and gave a gift they could take with them.
Aberdeen Branch Manager, Jill Berney, the Aberdeen Business Bankers, Brandon Barnes and John Devine, and also Senior Loan Officer, Julie West, were all a part of the Grays Harbor EXPO this year. The Westport branch volunteered on March 8th, at the Westport Chamber Auction and Dinner by cashiering and also donated an Amazon Kindle Fire HD basket for the auction.
The Westport Anchor Bank branch sponsored and served dinner at the Ocosta Family Night on February 24th. The Family Fun Night was also Ocosta's annual Read In, where kids came to read their favorite books in the classrooms. The Westport branch enjoys helping the Ocosta school and attending this annual event.
Anchor Bank was a participating institution supporting Summit Pacific Medical Center's "Banking on Your Health" event. During the week of February 10th thru February 14th, Summit Pacific Medical Center helped the community sign up for health insurance. If they were one of the first 100 to sign up, they received a $25 certificate to deposit into one of the participating banks of their choice. Anchor Bank sponsored the Bishop Center spring musical, Les Miserables. The performances were in March and Anchor Bank is a season sponsor for 2013-2014. The annual spring musical has been a harbor tradition for many years and Anchor Bank has been a sponsor of this event for fifteen years.
Each year Anchor Bank collects mittens and slippers to put on our Mitten Tree for the needy. Some of the employee's children gathered in front of the Mitten Tree for a photo on December 10th to show the collection. A community member, Bonnie Giron, would voluntarily knit slippers to fill the tree each year. This year Bonnie Giron passed, so Anchor Bank had decided to dedicate the Mitten Tree to her and her family. To see an article about the Mitten Tree click here.
Elma High School and Montesano High School held their annual food bowl December 6th thru December 17th. The Elma and Montesano Anchor Bank branches enjoyed a friendly challenge to see who could raise the most total pounds of food (including money) between them. The final pounds of food collected between the two branches totalled 2469.30 pounds. The food bowl was a big victory for both high schools.
The Aberdeen Branch Manager, Jill Berney, attended the Kettle Klash Luncheon to help raise money for the local Salvation Army on December 5th. The Luncheon turned out to be a great success by raising more money this year than previous years.
During the 2013 Providence St. Peter Christmas Forest, Anchor Bank sponsored the gift shop. The gift shop sponsor ran through November 28th to December 8th. The Christmas Forest is an annual event that features theme decorated trees for the public to view and selected invitees to purchase. Anchor Bank continues to support this and other events by Providence St. Peter.
On November 14th, Olympia Branch Manager, Kim Parks, hosted an Olympia Master Builders breakfast at the branch. Builders, Contractors and members of the community were invited to this event. Kim used this event to meet more of the local community and visit with familiar members.
The Grays Harbor participated in collecting blankets and coats for the United Way. Several of the Anchor Bank staff volunteered their time during sorting and distribution on November 5th. The United Way collects coats and blankets for the needy each year. This year was a huge success in Grays Harbor alone.
On October 18th, the Elma Branch Manager, Patti Ambrose and Assistant Manager, Virginia Grandorff, served the Elma High School staff barbecued hamburgers before a home football game, to thank them for all they do for local kids and the community. To see a copy of the flyer click here.
Cindy Crews, Centralia Branch Manager, and her team hosted a Business After Hours on October 17th. The event had an Oktoberfest theme including German libations, foods, prizes and an Oktoberfest photo opportunity. Businesses and community members were invited to attend. Lacey Branch Manager, Melissa Stone, and the Lacey Business Bankers attended the South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity Blueprints and Bluegrass groundbreaking on Saturday, September 21st. Melissa spoke at the event and helped break ground at Wood's Glen in Lacey. Habitat for Humanity purchased the 5-acre site and plans to construct 33 homes there over the next several years. Sand in the City®, the much-beloved free summer celebration in sand, was at the New Hands On Children’s Museum on Olympia’s East Bay Waterfront! The community enjoyed over 40 family-friendly outdoor activities such as community sand-sculpting competitions, rock wall climbing, tide pool touch tanks, face-painting, arts & crafts, live music and other on-stage entertainment. Anchor Bank Business Banker, Kassandra Jaquez, Olympia Branch Manager, Kim Parks and Business Banker, Dick Barnes volunteered at the Information booth on Friday and Saturday. The fourth-annual Anchor Family Movie Night was a giant success! A resilient crowd turned out to view 'Despicable Me' on a rainy August night in Grays Harbor. Anchor Bank's Chief Information Officer, Anthony Salas, started the event off with timeless favorites like the Hokie-Pokie, Macarena, the Chicken Dance, Hoola-Hooping and the Limbo, while lots of prizes and candy were handed out to all participants. Along with their glow necklaces and bracelets, the kids' faces lit up with excitement when it was time for the movie to start. The families enjoyed free popcorn, water and Despicable Me! During the 2013 Grays Harbor County Fair, Anchor Bank sponsored Kid's Day! Sales and Marketing Director, Sam Newberry, along with other volunteers from Anchor Bank drove the Kiddie Train on Thursday, August 8 and gave out balloons to kids. Not only did the kids have a great time, but all the Anchor volunteers who participated had a great time too. Anchor Bank hopes to make this a repeat event each year because it was a great success! The Montesano Chamber of Commerce and Anchor Bank partnered to host the 1st Annual Kid's Summer Festival at Fleet Park during the Historical Car Show on Saturday, July 20th. Montesano Branch Manager, Tim Beauchamp, took full advantage of the chance to get Anchor Bank's name out in the community. Along with some all day events like, two bounce houses and a live fish pond, there were also scheduled events like gunny sack races and a hot dog eating contest. On Saturday, July 6th, 2013, Melissa Stone, Lacey Branch Manager, Jackie Thein, Lacey Assistant Manager, Kim Parks, Olympia Branch Manager and Kasandra Jaquez, Business Banker volunteered at the South Sound BBQ Festival. Anchor Bank has agreed to completely sponsor the South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity's Annual Fall Fundraiser, Blueprints and Bluegrass! Anchor sponsors annual events for Habitat, but this is a huge event for the Organization. You can read more about the fundraiser here.
Anchor Bank was recognized at the YMCA lunch on Thursday, June 20th for our donation to the 2013 Strong Kids Campaign. Sam Newberry attended the luncheon and accepted our Thank You card from the campaign.
On June 12, 2013 the Thurston County Leadership Class of 2013 will graduate. Anchor Bank's Melissa Stone will be one of the graduates! Melissa continues to lead Anchor Bank's weekly involvement in the community with a mentoring program at Pleasant Glade Elementary School in Lacey. You can read more about Melissa's involvement here.
Each year a business is chosen for their commitment to the United Way of Grays Harbor; this is accomplished by increasing the payroll deduction pledges, corporate gifts, in-kind donations, volunteer time and overall involvement in United Way events. Greater Grays Harbor, Inc. hosted a graduation for the Class of 2013 Leadership Grays Harbor. Anchor Bank's very own Brandon Barnes, the Aberdeen Branch Manager, received his diploma for participating in the leadership program. During the graduation one of Brandon's fellow students described him as "insightful and nice." Anchor Bank is very proud of Brandon's accomplishment and congratulates him on his success!
On June 6th, 2013 Anchor Bank's Puyallup branch will be attending the Emma L. Carson Elementary School Walk-A-Thon with a booth set up to support this event and to get Anchor's name out in the community more. The Walk-A-Thon will help raise money for a new readerboard for the school.
Anchor Bank is a Corporate sponsor at the United Way's 2013 Spirit of Giving Awards Celebration. This year it will be held May 31st at 11:30am in The Worthington Center at Saint Martin's University. Anchor Bank will be recognized on this event program, signs and invitation. Anchor is an active participant with United Way and the community.
Ocean Shores Kiwanis Club 23rd Annual Scholarship Award Dinner and Auction will be May 22, 2013 at 5:30pm at the Convention Center. Ocean Shores' Anchor Bank Branch Manager, Lorna White and her employees from the branch will be helping at the event. Anchor is donating a basket for the auction as well. Anchor is continuing the relationship with Kiwanis by sponsoring this event and serving dinner to the attendees.
The Montesano Senior Center will be having a Spring Fling and Auction Saturday, May 18, 2013. Montesano's Branch Manager, Tim Beauchamp, will be attending to meet more of the community. Anchor Bank will be donating a basket for the silent auction and showing support of their local event.
On May 17, 2013 Indian Summer hosted a Thurston and Mason County Dental Society Golf Tournament. Branch Managers, Nancy Balderas from Lacey, Melissa Stone from Martin Way and Amber Mark from Shelton as well as three Business Bankers, Kasandra Jaquez, Joe Betzendorfer and Dick Barnes, were at this event representing Anchor Bank. Dick and Joe played in the tournament with two of their clients, while the others handed out refreshments at Anchor's sponsored a hole. The girls provided games, water and giveaways for the golfers. Elma's Branch Manager Patti Ambrose and Assistant Manager Virginia Grandorff will be attending the Summit Pacific Medical Foundation Golf and Gala on May 10, 2013 at Oakridge Golf Course in Elma, WA. Anchor Bank is sponsoring a golf hole and will also be present during the annual major donor recognition dinner.
On Wednesday, May 1st between Noon and 3:00pm, the Ocean Shores Anchor Bank will be hosting an Open House to welcome Lorna White as their new Branch Manager. During the week of April 1st - April 5th, students and their parents in the Olympia, North Thurston and Tumwater school districts will visit the Lacey Anchor Bank during the Math For Life event. The Lacey staff will briefly explain how math is used in our bank. The students will also receive and free giveaway for stopping by. Northwest Harvest, Washington Bankers Assoc., and other sponsors are hosting a food drive starting March 18, 2013 thru April 5, 2013. Many of our Anchor Bank locations are participating by having donation boxes in thier branches. The Olympia branch, Lacey branch, Martin Way branch and Puyallup branch, located inside the Walmart, are the locations to donate. All non-parishable food and cash donations benefit local food banks.
The EXPO Grays Harbor and Bite of Grays Harbor was held on Saturday, March 16 at Aberdeen High School. Brandon Barnes, AVP/Branch Manager at our Aberdeen branch, attended this event with an Anchor Bank booth set up. The EXPO is intended to connect local business with local customers in Grays Harbor.
Anchor Bank's Chief Information Officer/SVP, Anthony Salas, was elected to the United Way Board of Directors. Anchor has been an active sponsor of the United Way for years, so we are very proud to congratulate Anthony on his election.
Anchor Bank is sponsoring the Bishop Center spring musical (Beauty and the Beast) coming out in March and is a season sponsor for 2012-2013. The annual spring musical has been a harbor tradition for many years and Anchor Bank has been a sponsor of this event for fourteen years.
The Westport branch staff helped serve dinner during the Ocosta School District Family Fun Night on February 25. Our staff look forward to this even each year, which helps low to moderate income families.
On February 24th, Anchor sponsored the Entertainment Explosion "A Really Big Shoe Seven" at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts in Olympia. This event helps homeless and needy kids in the community. Anchor Bank has been a sponsor of this event for many years and the past six years has raised over $130,000.

Rose Patton of our Construction Administration and Patti Ambrose, Elma branch manager, attended the Elma SkillsUSA Career Fair on February 15th at the Elma High School. Students came to the Anchor Bank booth and learned about job opportunities available in the banking industry as well as other programs in the community.

Anchor Bank annually participates in the United Way's fundraising campaign, raising $19,580 for the Grays Harbor, Thurston, Mason, Pierce, and Lewis county chapters. Employees donated $9,680 and Anchor Bank matched this with a donation of $9,880.
Anchor Bank employees in Thurston county participated in the Pleasant Glade Elementary Giving Tree, collecting over 80 items for donation. This is the second year in a row they have been involved with this annual fundraising event for families that need a little extra help.

This year marks the 25th year that the Providence St. Peter Foundation has created its Christmas Forest – a popular holiday tradition that both marks the beginning of the Christmas season and raises hundreds of thousands of dollars that, in turn, help assure compassionate and excellent care in the community. Montesano hosted its annual Festival of Lights and Anchor Bank was there. Anchor set up a tent to hand out hot chocolate and cookies to visitors on their way to the parade route. Visitors come to Montesano each year from all over the state and Anchor Bank is a local supporter.
Anchor Bank is a presenting sponsor at the Science of Early Learning Breakfast on October 31, 2012 7:30am to 9:00am in Indian Summer Gold and Country Club, Olympia, WA. This event will increase community wide understanding that early childhood education and school readiness are major contributors to academic success and economic growth.
Anchor Bank is a sponsor of Showcase Grays Harbor on September 21, 2012. This year will focus on the north Beach Area of Grays Harbor and includes tours of the Doppler Radar Site, the Humptulips Fish Hatchery, Seabrook and Lytle Seafood.

Hunt the Harbor is a scavenger hunt for teams to compete and donate to charities in Grays Harbor area. Anchor Bank Business Banker, John Devine, helped out this year by having a challenge station for the hunters to compete at to earn the next clue. This was John's second year participating in the event. Anchor Bank is a proud sponsor of the Hunt the Harbor event.
Anchor Bank donated an auction item to the Olympia-Lacey-Tumwater Visitor & Convention Burea's Masquerade event on September 14th. Proceeds from this event will be donated to SafePlace and The Hands on Childrens Museum.
Kung Fu Panda 2 was shown at the 3rd annual Anchor Family Movie Night on Friday, August 24, 2012 at the Aberdeen Miller Jr High School Track. Games and prizes started at 7:30pm and the movie began at dusk.

Anchor Bank participated in a "Fill The Backpack" back to school supply drive in all branch locations. They were collecting backpacks, 3-ring binders, pencil boxes, pencils, paper and cash donations. All donations were used to purchase school supplies for local students in need.
Anchor Bank employees volunteered and "took over" the Habitat for Humanity of Grays Harbor Elephant Ear booth at the Grays Harbor Fair on Thursday. Together they punched, rolled, flipped and topped over 335 Elephant Ears while bringing in $1,665 for Habitat For Humanity. It was a great day at the fair!
The Thurston County has a leadership program for potential community leaders. Our Lacey Branch Manager, Nancy Balderas, was part of the 10-month program and graduated on June 13, 2012. Anchor Bank is proud to sponsor such a great leadership program for the community and our employees.
On June 1st and 2nd, the "Forever Strong" Anchor Bank team took turns walking around the track to raise money and awareness to help the American Cancer Society create a world with less cancer and more birthdays. The team achieved the bronze fundraising level this year with $2,962 raised by donations and several raffle items including a cedar "lemonade stand" for the kids and a handcrafted bench for two.
Anchor Bank has been a long-time supporter of the United Way, with a number of employees serving on boards and committees, as well as matching employee contributions. This campaign year Anchor Bank matched donations of $7905 in Grays Harbor and $999 in Thurston County. In addition, donations of $100 were given to the United Way in Lewis, Pierce and Mason counties.
